Obituary of Sylvia Gloria Butt
With broken and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Sylvia Butt. Sylvia was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves us with a void that can never be filled.
Born in Hare Bay, NL, Sylvia was preceded in death by her loving husband Kevin, parents Marshal and Helena Roberts, brother Larry, and sister Kathleen.
Left with cherished memories are her beautiful children Jackie (Terry), Winston (Jeannine), and the sunshine of her life, her precious grandchildren Marie, Riley, Miranda, Morgan, Jackson, and great-grandchildren Aurora and Scarlet. Sylvia is also survived by her brothers Calvin (Carol), Jack (Karen), Bernard (Phyllis), Sherman, and sisters Pauline (Rank), Patsy, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sylvia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, they were the love of her life. She enjoyed going to church and had a strong faith. She donated many hours of her time to the church in numerous ways especially at Christmas time when the need was so great. She also helped those in need at the foodbank, always there to lend a hand when needed.
Her passion was banking. She spent many hours in the kitchen baking for her family and friends. She loved to wrap them in pretty packages and present them to you, especially at Christmas time. The birthday cakes she made were countless and brought her joy.
Sylvia moved to Toronto as a teenager. There she would later meet the love of her life Kevin and they raised two children together. They spent several years in Hickmans Harbour, NL, raising their children until they were grown. In later years, they moved back to Ontario and lived in Amherstburg near their son Winston. When Kevin passed in 2006, Sylvia stayed in Amherstburg and lived close to her son and family until her passing.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements were entrusted to the Cremation Society of Windsor & Essex County. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined, at the Salvation Army Church in Hickman’s Harbour, NL, followed by her interment where she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband Kevin.
