As my grandfather, my best memories of him are back on his farm in Tobermory. He had built a swing for all of his grandchildren that had hung on the front of the barn door. I would use this swing as a child and now over the years as I got older my grandparents would finally decide to retire and move to Newfoundland and I would return to the farm one last time and to my surprise the swing was still there in the same spot. No matter how old all of us have got at that point, he never took it down. I knew how much he loved all of us.
As a man, and only from what I know and remember, he lived a pretty amazing life. He was good with cars or basically anything with a motor in it. He travels across provinces, and has seen some beautiful places. He was a good person with strong values that looked like some kind of invincible shield that he carried in life. He was always able to stay upbeat, positive and he was always honest. Growing up as a child he had spoken with me about family and God and I knew that meant these were things that were very important to him.
For me , we are now one more less of a great man who actions had been more then just positive to this world. And I really do hope I am able to live a life a special as his was. I am going to miss him always,
