Derek you are that special person in my life. The first person to show me what love is all about. As we grew up you filled many roles: my best friend, my confidant, my support, my inspiration and my partner. We learned so many things together. I am still not able to believe that you are gone. I am reminded though by the feeling in my heart where a piece is now missing. I’ve loved you as long as I can remember and I will miss you every single day.

My deepest sympathies to the Lucas family. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. My last memory of Derek was of him with friends. We were playing Euchre and teaching someone else how to play the game. We were all talking and laughing together. I am grateful I had that opportunity to see you last month Derek. Remember teaching be darts? How to fish, to ride my bike, bike races, to climb a tree,( and I got stuck) , comics, sleeping next to you until I was too old.. games, darts, campfires with family, covering your walls with cars. The Lamborghini you always wanted. Dinky cars, movies, long talks, teaching me cross country skiing in the Grove. Summers at the beach, watching the water, flying a kite.................. You were there for it all!

My sincerest condolences to my best friends, Ray, Russell and Tina, and to all the family, who has been my close family for 44 years. Derek and I have always had a very special and close relationship. Derek and Russell are my big brothers. To loose Derek ( and not to long ago Charlotte) my deepest condolences to all family members and friends. He will be remembered, closely in my heart. I am very sad, and very broken by Derek's passing. This is one of the most painful losses . The Lucas's are an amazing family, you have all been through so much and are being thought of. I wish Derek and I were playing hide and seek! Tag without hitting the chimney and neededing stitches! Oh the memories. May the bright and happy memories never fade. Derek is a very special person, if you knew him you knew his kindness. His love. I have lost one of my closest friends and brother. I'm thinking of you all, I miss you all so much. Derek I will always love you, you will be in my heart, my memories, you will not be forgotten. May you rest in heaven, and hear our prayers and love. I miss you so much. I love all of you so much. Take care of each other. Words cannot describe or fully express my feelings my love and how close we have been. Ray, Russell and Tiny, I love you, this is not an easy time. Those who know how close we were, will know the depths of my grief. Derek I love you, I wish we could have said good bye. I will miss our talks and your friendship, advise and love so much.
