Obituary of Maria Volkhammer

Maria Volkhammer passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 96.

Maria is now reunited with her beloved husband, Siegfried Volkhammer (1993).

She was the loved daughter of Anna Backi (2001) and Adam Backi (1991), and the dear sister of Anna (2010). 

She was the loving mother of Gerhard Volkhammer (Linda), Ralph Volkhammer (Rhea), Mike Volkhammer (Helen), Cora McPhail (Paul), and Martin Volkhammer. She was a proud grandmother to Erin, Kelly (Adam), Jaclyn, Paul, Alison (Kyle), and William, and a cherished great-grandmother to Addison, Brody, and Austin, with another great-grandchild on the way.

Maria was the heart of her family and devoted her life to caring for those she loved. She enjoyed cooking and was known for the wonderful meals she prepared for her family. Baking was another passion of her life. For every family gathering she would bring homemade cakes and pies. It was always a treat to finish a meal with the desserts she baked with love.  She also loved spending time in her garden, where she found great happiness. She enjoyed reading books and kept up to date with current events.

Maria will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hospice of Windsor & Essex County would be greatly appreciated. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support the hospice staff provided to Maria and her loved ones during her final days.

As per Maria’s wishes cremation has taken place.
